Bluegrass Recruiting Consulting Executive Interviewing CandidateAt Bluegrass Recruiting, we want you to land the job of your dreams.  We know that it’s possible.  We've seen it happen time and time again.  Unfortunately, most job seekers do not take the time nor invest the energy required to position themselves for success.  The very fact that you are reading this expose is, in and of itself, a testament to your willingness to consider strategies and resources that have the potential to yield exponential returns.  To that end, we applaud you.

As stated throughout this website,  it is our  heartfelt belief that every  job candidate should wield a Power Resume.  W
ithout going into the intricacies of creating a Power Resume (which is discussed on the web page entitled same), it is important to realize that your resume must prove your worth by demonstrating your value.  As a general rule, the value you must provide to you employer as a consulting professional should be at least 4-5 times the amount of your total annual compensation.

The value being conveyed could be in the form of newly realized efficiencies, increased revenues, higher gross margins and/or lower operating expenses.  The possible sources of value are nearly infinite but the message being communicated in the resume must be eminently clear—that the value you deliver is far in excess of the cost of your salary and bonus.

Having created a Power Resume as more specifically set forth in the section entitled same, you are now ready to focus on the interviewing process.  The first point that we would like to make in this regard is that Hiring Executives are evaluated either directly or indirectly by the success of their hiring decisions.  In the consulting industry, the implications of hiring decisions can have even greater ramifications as the bonus compensation of Managing Directors and Partners is linked to, and impacted by, the value contributions (utilization and chargeability) of both staff and management of their respective practices.

Stated another way, all hiring decisions convey some level of risk and professional exposure to the hiring executive. Some hires, of course, are more risky than others.  Your goal, therefore, as a job candidate is to mitigate this hiring risk as much as is reasonably possible.  The manner in which this is accomplished is very simple.  During the job interview, it is your duty and responsibility to articulate to the Hiring Executive the facts, figures, percentages and dollar amounts that relate specifically to your value contributions.

The only way that this can be done in a polished and highly professional manner is if you have memorized all of the information contained in your resume.  After all, over the course of your career you have most likely held numerous positions and made multiple contributions of a significant nature.  Futhermore, given the vast amount of information that your career represents, it is unrealistic to expect someone—who has only had a limited amount of time to review, assimulate and prioritize your information—to know it as well as yourself.

Therefore, you will need to lead them through your most noteworthy accomplishments and then extrapolate how your experience and achievements could be applied to their indiviudal practice and business.  In order for you to do this with credibility and poise, you must be knowledgeable about not only your current and prior employer’s services, practice areas, target customers, major competitors, geographical markets and industry statistics—but you must be equally knowledgeable about the same type of information and data as it pertains to your prospective employer.  Then, and only then, can you expect to converse intelligently and make meaningful inquiries that are characteristic of exceptional candidates and impact players.

Bluegrass Recruiting Game Changer Consulting ProfessionalAgain, the only way that this can be done effortlessly with poise and charisma is if you have done your homework and practiced your interviewing skills.  We recommend that you practice your presentation using your Power Resume as a script and repeat it to yourself and others (typically family members) over and over again until you know it forward and backward.  In the words of a noted career coach, “Preparation for an interview is critical to winning a job offer and lack of practice is the same as preparing to fail”.

Now, assuming that you are truly committed to maximizing your career potential, there are three options that we would like to bring to your attention to assist you in achieving your goal.  All of which, notably, relate to different resources offered by Mr. Robert Meier at JobClinc.org.  To those of you who are not familiar with Mr. Meier, he is a published author, a resume architect and one of America’s premier career coaches.

The first option is designed to assist you with the preparation of a Power Resume by providing you with twelve sample resumes, each representing a different career path, from which to pattern your resume.  Specifically, we would like to draw your attention to the overall layout and format with a special emphasis on the documentation of professional challenges, actions taken, results achieved and awards realized.  Please note that the aforestated resumes are for reference purposes only and should not be plagiarized.  Said resumes are available for download compliments of Mr. Meier and the JobClinic at the following link:  www.jobclinic.org/Resumes.html

The second option pertains to those individuals who could benefit from a “how to” guide complete with relevant recommendations and practical tips with respect to the entire resume writing process.  For these individuals, we highly recommend Mr. Meier’s book entitled “The World’s Greatest Resumes” (183-pages).  The last time we checked, the book was available on Amazon.com for $11.95 plus shipping and handling.  It is without a doubt an exceptional resource and rates—in our opinion—as one of the best resume writing reference books available today.

The third option is a turn-key package available from Mr. Meier entitled “Job In A Box Career Kit”.  The kit includes not only “The World’s Greatest Resumes” but a series of interviewing CDs designed to teach you how to direct attention to your strengths and accomplishments, effortlessly build dialog and how to maintain composure during intense interrogative-style interviews.  For those who are interested, the “Job In A Box Career Kit” is available from JobClinic.org for $59.95 plus shipping and handling at the following link:  http://www.jobclinic.org/Products.html

For those of you who are wondering, neither Bluegrass Recruiting nor any of its employees or shareholders are being compensated for endorsing Mr. Meier’s products and services.  We simply believe in the efficacy of his methods and techniques and, as such, recommend his products and services to those individuals who seek professional assistance in presenting their experience and credentials in the best possible light.  Finally, it is important to note that Mr. Meier does not use the term ‘Power Resume’ when describing his particular style of resume writing even though the final resume product qualifies for what we, at Bluegrass Recruiting, would describe as a results-driven Power Resume.

We trust that this information has been helpful.  If you have not yet read the web expose entitled "Power Resumes", we strongly advise that you do so.  To access the web page entitled “Power Resumes”, simply click on the link at the bottom of this page.
